Programmes

Who we work with

We bring the workshop to you. Every programme runs as a ready to go block, with tutors, materials, safety and accreditation handled by us.

Schools and SEND settings

Construction and product design blocks for independent and specialist schools, built around each learner's EHCP.

  • Carpentry and joinery
  • Bricklaying
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical, on safe low voltage boards
  • 3D printing and digital making

Youth justice

Practical making that builds focus, confidence and real skills, with a route on for young people who want to keep going.

  • Small group, hands on sessions
  • Accredited units
  • Support to set up as an independent maker, where funding allows

Adult and community

Product design courses that combine woodworking, 3D printing and electronics for adult learners and community groups.

  • Beginner friendly
  • Wellbeing at the centre
  • Mobile kit for community venues

Our approach

Cut it by hand. Cut it by machine.

Learners do every task the traditional way, then again with the tools the trade uses today. They time it, measure it and decide which a real workshop should use.

Traditional

  • Saw, chisel and housing joints
  • String line and spirit level
  • Screw terminals and compression joints
  • Plans drawn on paper

Modern

  • Handheld CNC and 3D printed jigs
  • Self levelling laser lines
  • Lever connectors and push fit
  • Tinkercad, thermal and inspection cameras

How a block runs

Six weeks, start to finish

STEP 1

Plan

We review EHCPs with the occupational therapist and set each learner's goals.

STEP 2

Build

Weekly 90 minute sessions with a specialist tutor, all tools and materials supplied.

STEP 3

Visit

A day on a live building site to see the trade at full scale.

STEP 4

Show

A showcase for families and staff, certificates, and a report for every learner.

Measured outcomes

Evidence, not just a nice afternoon

An occupational therapist assesses every learner at the start and end of each block. Schools get progress reports mapped to EHCP outcomes, ready for annual reviews.

About us

Making as wellbeing, and as a way into work

Wood and Wellness began with a simple idea: making things with your hands is good for you. Today we run accredited construction and product design programmes across London, from specialist schools to community workshops.

Every block is designed by us, delivered by qualified tutors, and backed by safeguarding, insurance and clear risk assessments, so settings can offer real trade skills without building a department from scratch.

Founded and led by Kojo Sarpong, Director.
